* gear up : 'gear'는 자동차 변속장치를 칭하거나 'medical gear', 'hiking gear'에서처럼 도구의 의미로도 사용되지만, 위의 문맥에서는 'get ready for', 'prepare oneself for' 등의 의미로 사용되었다.
